GUIDANCE FOR COMPANIES SEEKING ACQUISITIONS
There are three main stages in the process:
|
1) Determine the strategy and objectives to be achieved. 2) Identify the type(s) of company to target 3) Identify potential acquisition targets on as wide a front as compatible with the objectives. 4) Undertake background research, and filter target list 5) Approach targets, preferably on a non-attributable basis, using an external agency (such as CMR). Assess appropriateness of approach, and methodology. 6) Negotiate 7) Legal and due diligence CMR helps in all these stages, except for the last, which is handed over to appropriate professional firms. Because of the strength of CMR's executive base, we have experts in all industries and locations, and can therefore bring senior experience to bear to help achieve the objectives. This is particularly important for handling the initial strategy, targeting and initial contact stages, which usually need to be done with great sensitivity and anonymity. |
